Instructor Bios

Mr. Barb Greve

Mr. Barb Greve earned his Masters of Divinity at Starr King School for the Ministry in 2007. He currently serves as the Developmental Director of Lifespan Religious Education to the Mount Diablo Unitarian Universalist Church in Walnut Creek, CA and is the Consulting Interim to Unitarian Universalist Congregation: East in Manchester, CT.

Mr. Barb currently serves on as the Vice-Chair of the Starr King School for the Ministry’s Board of Trustees, is a founding member and serves on the Steering Committee of Transgender Religious professional Unitarian Universalists Together (TRUUsT). From 1995 – 2005 Mr. Barb served as Program Associate in the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations’ Office of Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, and Transgender Concerns. In that time Mr. Barb preached and led workshops on issues of sexual orientation, gender identification, race, and ability.  Mr. Barb has taught Religious Education classes for all ages and spent over 20 years advising Young Religious Unitarian Universalist youth groups. He collaborated on the creation of the UUA’s 2nd edition of the Welcoming Congregation Handbook and is co-author of Living the Welcoming Congregation.  Mr. Barb is the publishing editor of Crossing Paths: Where Transgender and Religion Meet (UUA). He is also a contributing author in GenderQueer: Voices from Beyond the Sexual Binary (Alyson Press), Homosexuality & Religion: An Encyclopedia (Greenwood Press) and Women: Images & Realities, A Multicultural Anthology (McGraw Hill).  Mr. Barb is an instructor with GOAL (Gay Officers Action League), New England.

Rev. Meg Riley

Rev. Meg Riley is the Senior Minister with the Church of the Larger Fellowship. Before coming to CLF she served the Unitarian Universalist Association in a variety of positions including directing the Advocacy and Witness Programs, Washington Office for Advocacy, Office of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual Transgender Concerns, and Youth Office. Rev. Meg also directed the Standing on the Side of Love campaign and the Unitarian Universalist response to Hurricane Katrina.

Over the years Rev. Meg has served on many national boards of directors including the Interfaith Alliance, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice. She was the founding president of two organizations, Faith in Public Life and Equal Partners in Faith. Rev. Meg is the proud parent of a Trans* teen.
