The CLF is the Church of the Larger Fellowship (CLF), a Unitarian Universalist congregation with no geographical boundary. Together, we create global spiritual community, rooted in profound love, which cultivates wonder, imagination, and the courage to act. We strive to keep the flame of love burning bright for all who yearn for its warmth and light.
Our thousands of members live all over the world. Nine hundred of them are currently incarcerated. Members and friends are seekers, UU lay leaders and religious professionals, homebound and geographically remote people, quirky folks looking for kindred spirits. What brings us together is the desire to connect, seek, share and grow. You are welcome here whether you are a CLF member or not. Take your time, get to know us.
The Church of the Larger Fellowship has a rich and interesting history beginning back in the days of the Pony Express, when circuit riders brought tracts from the Unitarian “Post Office Mission” to the ranches and farms in the west. (We understand that “Mission” is a mixed concept in the United States and globally, and while we are proud of the courage exhibited by those who longed to share the good news of Unitarianism and Universalism, we acknowledge that western religions also brought beliefs in the superiority of people racialized as white.)
The story of the CLF begins with the human quest for religious fellowship and freedom across daunting frontiers of geographical, social, and spiritual separation. It is a story about the determination to share Unitarian and Universalist faith, and the evolution of a new paradigm for a “church without walls.” Such are the roots and the visions of the Church of the Larger Fellowship, then and now.
The CLF has offices at 24 Farnsworth Street, Boston MA 02210, but much of the staff is scattered around the U.S. Read More to meet CLF Staff members and find their contact information.
