Beginning in November and December, I am pleased to offer free sample sessions of the upcoming class, Whispering Winds: Writing to Explore Your Inner Wisdom (registration now open).
I hope you will consider joining us for a sample session on November 15, November 18, December 13, or December 16 (reserve your spot!).
As a poetry therapist, I work with individuals, couples, and groups of people, gently coaxing their writing selves to share the wisdom that each of us inherently harbors within. It is my privilege and passion to share this calling of mine to make a better world through uplifting people’s voices.Whether one writes, sings, jokes, paints, gardens, cooks, or any other creative expression, we each have the power to improve our lives and the lives of others around us.
I believe in the power of self-expression in self-healing. Whether one writes, sings, jokes, paints, gardens, cooks, or any other creative expression, we each have the power to improve our lives and the lives of others around us. As I write, I learn about what I think and new ways of being in the world. I trust the wisdom that I find in honest words. Metaphor is naturally honest.
As a member and lay leader of the Church of the Larger Fellowship, I really enjoy working with other CLF members as we start from similar places, such as the Seven Principles of Unitarian Universalism. Writing together also builds a closer sense of community. A goal of mine is to build the world I want to live in, with the values that I care deeply about in evidence.
By building community through positive feedback of each person’s writing, my writing groups become cohesive, sharing meaningful and often helpful insights with each other. We do not analyze writings as one might do in a college course. Instead, we explore and ponder, creatively play with words, and spiritually wander through wonder. Beginners to advanced writers are welcome to join this creative exploration.
After these sampler sessions, we will start a bi-weekly time of writing together during the winter months of January through March. We will follow the Quest Monthly theme (January-Secrets, February-Hospitality, March-Brokenness) while we nourish ourselves and each other with time spent writing and sharing together in an online small group (as if we are sharing our living spaces without moving). I might suggest making a cup of tea beforehand!I believe we are all capable of writing and are inherently creative beings.
Poetry therapy is not just about writing poetry. We usually begin with a concise poem to offer writing prompts, but you may write about whatever comes to you. Oftentimes, it is very poetic, without you even realizing it! I believe we are all capable of writing and are inherently creative beings. In these sessions, you will gently re-learn the loveliness of self-expression that we all came with in our entrance to this world, whether that was with a smile or a wail or both.
I look forward to taking this journey with you!
